# Creating an Agent

Creating an agent on memejob involves pairing a strategy with an onchain identity and token, defining how that agent will expose insights, accept usage, and interact with users.

Each agent is launched alongside an instantly tradable memejob token, which governs access, incentives, and usage around that agent.

Deploying new agents onto memejob Agentic Layer can be done in two ways:

1. Create a new agent with a new token\
   Used when launching a standalone agent with its own economic context.
2. Attach an agent to an existing memejob token\
   Available to the token developer, allowing additional agents to be introduced under the same token.

**Agent creation fee** is fixed at 420 $HBAR. It is charged at deployment and applies regardless of the creation path.

Creating an agent does not grant execution authority; agents expose insights and signals, while execution decisions remain with the user.

A strategy defines the deterministic logic an agent uses to interpret market data and generate signals. This page covers strategy design, configuration, and evaluation.

## Strategy Engine

This section is primarily intended for developers and advanced users comfortable with programmatic trading logic. Non-technical users can still build strategies using the LLM-assisted strategy builder described later in this page.

DEVs building a memejob Agent strategy will be using [LUA code language](https://www.lua.org/), tailored to WAKOS SDK indicators and:

### **1. Opt to build a strategy from scratch:**

Strategies on memejob are designed to be composable and reusable. You can start from established templates, build on community contributions, or create fully private strategies depending on your needs.

These are **sudo-approved publicly recognized strategies** that can be used by agents or as starting point for custom strategies.

They are facilitated as public-good templates to ensure predictable outputs, safety and consistency.

These are public contributions to the community knowledge base that case be queried by performance, used in agents or further refined.

#### Private Strategies

Section restricted to highly confidential user generated strategies only.

## Strategy Configuration

Strategy configuration defines decision rules only. It does not control agent persona, token economics, or execution behavior.

Each strategy is defined by:

* Name,
* Description,
* Public or private visibility,
* Buy rules,
* Sell rules,
* Reference asset (single execution target).

Strategies can applied across **multiple assets**, but generate signals for **one target asset**.

# LLM-assisted strategy builder

The LLM-assisted strategy builder helps users generate strategy code efficiently. It does not change execution semantics: strategies remain deterministic and auditable.

Add your openAI API key([find your API key](https://platform.openai.com/api-keys)) in the strategy "Config":

The API key is used only during strategy authoring to generate or refine code. It is not used during strategy execution or backtesting.&#x20;

and allow ChatGPT to build the strategy for you inside the memejob strategy builder:

#### `complete(prompt)`

The complete() function is an authoring-time utility for generating text and code suggestions based on prompts. It uses a Spring AI ChatModel to assist with strategy construction, analysis, and experimentation.

#### Parameters:

* prompt [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) The prompt to send to the AI model

#### Returns:

1. [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) Generated completion text from the AI model

#### Usage:

Outputs generated via complete() are text responses and must be interpreted or translated into deterministic strategy logic before being used as signals.

Note: while feeding the memejob LUA documentation, you may use any external LLM to support you in your strategy building endeavours. HF!

# Syntax & Commands

This sectionsection documents the supported syntax, commands, and primitives available in the memejob strategy engine. It serves as a reference and is not intended to be read linearly.

Below are **all the supported syntax, variables and functions** available when building trading strategies using the **WAKOS / memejob LUA Strategy Builder**.

The environment is a **sandboxed LUA DSL** designed for **safe, fast, deterministic backtesting and execution**. It is **not full LUA**.

Not all commands are required for every strategy; most strategies use a small subset of the primitives listed below.

### 1. Execution Model (Important)

Understanding the execution model is critical before writing strategies.

* The strategy script is executed **once per bar**
* Scripts are **stateless** by default (no memory across bars)
* The engine manages: Positions and Order execution
* Your script expresses **intent** via return values

#### Return Values

### 2. Supported Lua Syntax

The strategy builder supports a **subset of LUA**.

* Comparisons: `> < >= <= ==`
* Boolean logic: `and`, `or`
* Conditional blocks: `if / elseif / end`
* Single-return strategy flow

### 3. Core Market Data Variables

All market data variables are instances of **`ValueWithHistory`**.

They support:

* Direct access (`close`)
* Historical indexing (`close[1]`, `close[2]`)

#### Price Variables

# Agentic & Data Layer

This section explains how memejob AI agents are structured at a system level, separating data ingestion from agent behavior to ensure modularity, auditability, and extensibility.

Memejob AI agents are **composable by design** and are built around two core pillars that operate in tandem:

* **The Data Layer**\
  Responsible for sourcing, normalizing and exposing on-chain, off-chain and oracle-based data.&#x20;
* **The Agentic Layer**\
  Encapsulates agent behavior and decision-making workflows.&#x20;

This separation ensures that data sourcing and normalization can evolve independently from agent logic, reducing coupling and enabling safer iteration.

Together, these layers enable modular, extensible agents, that can adapt strategies, integrate new data sources and evolve behavior without tight coupling between data ingestion and decision logic.

# Agent Framework

The section defines how agents are instantiated, configured, and executed. It provides the runtime scaffolding that connects strategies, data inputs, and interaction interfaces.

Memejob AI Agents are built on **ElizaOS**, which provides the core agentic runtime for autonomous behavior, state management and action execution.

ElizaOS enables agents to operate as **stateful, goal-oriented systems**, handling reasoning loops, memory and task sequencing. Memejob defines agent intent and permissions, while ElizaOS governs how agents think and act.

The Agent Framework does not define trading logic or market decisions. Those remain entirely within strategies, which are selected and configured separately.

### ElizaOS SDK & Functions

Memejob integrates the **ElizaOS SDK** as the execution interface between agents and the platform.

Through the SDK, agents access a curated set of **explicit functions**, that define their capabilities, including:

* Data and signal retrieval
* Strategy execution and automation
* State-aware logic and counters
* System and agent coordination

The SDK acts as a **capability boundary**: agents can only invoke functions that are intentionally exposed, ensuring predictable, auditable and composable behavior.

This section lists the assets currently supported by the memejob strategy and agent system. Supported assets determine which markets agents can analyze, simulate, and generate signals for.

# Data Source

This section describes the raw data providers that supply market, liquidity, and pricing inputs. These data sources form the foundation on which technical indicators and higher-level agent reasoning.

Agent strategies rely on a combination of market, liquidity and pricing data aggregated from trusted third-party providers. These data sources supply the foundational signals used by both technical indicators and higher-level AI decision layers.

The current supported data sources include:

* **CoinGecko**\
  Provides broad market coverage, token metadata, historical price data, market capitalization and volume metrics used for baseline market awareness and cross-asset comparisons.
* **GeckoTerminal**\
  Supplies real-time and historical DEX liquidity, pool-level data and on-chain trading activity, enabling agents to reason about depth, slippage and decentralized market dynamics.
* **Supra Oracle (real-time pricing)**\
  Delivers low-latency, tamper-resistant price feeds for accurate execution, strategy validation and synchronization between on-chain actions and off-chain signals.

Data from these providers is normalized and abstracted before use; agents and strategies do not interact with external APIs directly.

# Technical Indicators

This section introduces the categories of technical indicators supported in strategies, explains how they are used to derive signals from market data. Indicators provide structured inputs to strategy.

Trading indicators are grouped into a few **widely accepted categories**. The sections below outline their purpose and how the currently supported indicators can be used in strategies.

You do not need to use indicators from every category; most strategies rely on a small subset chosen to match their time horizon and market behavior.

Standard categories include:

### 1. Trend Indicators

Used to identify the **direction and strength** of a trend.

**Typical questions they answer:** *Is the market trending up, down, or sideways?*

**Common examples:**

* Moving Averages (SMA, EMA, WMA)
* MACD
* ADX
* Ichimoku Cloud
* Parabolic SAR

### 2. Momentum Indicators

Measure the **speed of price movement** and potential exhaustion.

**Typical questions they answer:** *Is the move strong or weakening?*&#x20;

**Common examples:**

* RSI
* Stochastic Oscillator
* CCI
* Momentum
* Rate of Change (ROC)

### 3. Volatility Indicators

Measure **how much price fluctuates**, not direction.

**Typical questions they answer:** *How risky or unstable is the current market?*

**Common examples:**

* ATR
* Bollinger Bands
* Keltner Channels
* Standard Deviation
* Donchian Channels

### 4. Volume Indicators

Analyze **trading activity and participation**.

**Typical questions they answer:** *Is the move supported by real participation?*

**Common examples:**

* Volume
* On-Balance Volume (OBV)
* VWAP
* Accumulation / Distribution
* Money Flow Index (MFI)

### 5. Oscillators (Range / Mean-Reversion)

Often a **subset of momentum**, but commonly treated separately.

**Typical questions they answer:** *Is the asset overbought or oversold?*

### 6. Support & Resistance Indicators

Help identify **price levels of interest**.

# Moving Average Indicators

Moving averages are used to identify trend direction, filter noise, and define entry or exit conditions. This section documents the moving average indicators available and how they are used.

Most strategies rely on one or two moving average patterns; the examples below illustrate common building blocks rather than prescriptive templates.

**What is a Moving Average?**\
A trend-following indicator. Displayed in a value or visual line calculated based on average price over time.

**Range:** It calculates the average of past prices to filter out short-term noise.\
If the price is consistently trading above the moving average, the trend is considered up.\
If the price is consistently trading below the moving average, the trend is considered down.

### Supported technical indicators feature:

1. #### Simple Moving Average (SMA)

**Formula**: SMA = (A1 + A2 + … + An) / n

SMA factores the sum of closing prices over a specific period and dividing the total by the number of periods. Closing prices have equal weights.&#x20;

In other words, it calculates arithmetic mean of closing prices over a time window. Results are cached for performance (1-minute TTL).

#### Parameters:

* window [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) or number Time window as duration string ("15m", "1h") or minutes (REQUIRED)
* resolution [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) or number Bar resolution as duration string ("1m", "5m") or minutes (*default* "1m")

#### Returns:

1. number SMA value (returns 0 if no bars found)

#### Usage:

Common representation in LUA code as **SMA(n)**, where n is the number of periods.

2. ### Exponential Moving Average (EMA)

**Formula**: EMA = (Current Price × (2 / (N + 1))) + (Previous EMA × (1 – (2 / (N + 1)))

Is calculated using the Simple Moving Average (SMA) but assigning higher weights to recent prices.

In other words, to calculate the EMA one must be using a multiplier-based approach: multiplier = 2 / (periods + 1). Applies weighted multipliers to SMA values at each period.

#### Parameters:

* periods number Number of periods (REQUIRED)
* window [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) or number Time window as duration string ("15m", "1h") or minutes (*default* "1m")

#### Returns:

1. number EMA value

#### Usage:

Representation in LUA code as **EMA(x)**, where x is the number of periods.

3. ### Weighted Moving Average (WMA)

**Formula**: WMA = \[(Price₁ × n) + (Price₂ × (n – 1)) +… + Priceₙ] / \[n × (n + 1) / 2]

Similar to EMA, places greater emphasis on recent prices by assigning them higher importance,. the formula features a linear weighting method, making it less sensitive to recent price changes.

In other words, for calculating WMA one must use descending weights: denominator = (weights + 1) \* weights / 2. More recent periods receive higher weights in descending order.

#### Parameters:

* periods number Number of periods (REQUIRED)
* window [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) or number Time window as duration string ("15m", "1h") or minutes (REQUIRED)
* weights number Number of descending weights to apply (REQUIRED)

#### Returns:

1. number WMA value

#### Usage:

4. ### MACD - Moving Average Convergence Divergence

Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) Calculates MACD as the difference between fast and slow EMAs. Formula: fast\_ema - slow\_ema Note: Does NOT support asset name parameter (always uses primary asset).

#### Parameters:

* small\_periods number Fast EMA periods (default: 12) (*default* 12)
* large\_periods number Slow EMA periods (default: 26, must be > small\_periods) (*default* 26)
* window [string](https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4) or number Time window as duration string ("15m", "1h") or minutes (*default* "1m")

#### Returns:

1. number MACD value (fast EMA - slow EMA)

#### Usage:

# Relative Strength Index

Relative Strength Index is used to identify overbought or oversold conditions and potential reversals. RSI focuses on momentum and exhaustion rather than direction.

#### What is RSI?&#x20;

The RSI is a momentum oscillator. Think of it like a speedometer for price changes.&#x20;

Range: It moves between 0 and 100.

It compares the magnitude of recent gains to recent losses.

* If the price is going up rapidly with very few down candles, the RSI approaches 100.
* If the price is crashing without relief, the RSI approaches 0.

#### Main use

RSI is commonly used to answer two questions that moving averages cannot:

1. "Is the price too expensive right now?" (Overbought)
   * When RSI > 70, the asset is considered "overheated." The buyers are exhausted, and a reversal (price drop) is likely.
2. "Is the price too cheap right now?" (Oversold)
   * When RSI < 30, the asset is "oversold." The sellers are exhausted, and a bounce (price rise) is likely.

Use Case: While your current Moving Average tools tell you *what the trend is* (Up or Down), RSI tells you *if the trend is about to end*.


# Backtesting Strategy performance

Backtesting allows you to evaluate how a strategy would have behaved on historical data before using it in live conditions. It helps assess signal quality, consistency, and basic risk characteristics.

Once a LUA strategy compiles successfully, users can evaluate its performance by clicking **Run**.\
Based on the selected **pSpan** configuration, the strategy is backtested across different time windows.

As the compiler progresses through historical data, signals are incrementally generated. Performance metrics include the **number of buy and sell signals** and their respective outcomes.
